Looking back: GMA and Keynote

GMA & keynote

At the beginning of October, we came together at De Grolsch Veste for a special evening, highlighted by an inspiring keynote from Rob Boudrie, Head of Football Development at FC Twente, followed by the General Members’ Assembly of Bekader.

During his presentation, Rob Boudrie took us through the vision and working approach of FC Twente. He showed how leadership, culture, and development come together within a top-level sports organization, drawing clear parallels with the business world. A key theme was making choices in talent development. According to Boudrie, quality alone is not decisive; character is even more important: players must fit the culture and values of the club. He translated this idea to organizations outside of sport, where it is equally important that an employee or applicant aligns with the vision and identity of a company.

After the keynote, an extensive tour of FC Twente’s stadium followed. From the dressing rooms to the pitch, and from the players’ tunnel to the press room, the distinctive Twente character was evident throughout. The tour offered a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at a professional football organization and completed the evening.

Following this, the Bekader General Members’ Assembly (GMA) took place. During the meeting, the annual report and the realisation of the 2024–2025 budget were discussed, as well as the new policy and budget for 2025–2026. There was also room for in-depth discussion. Members actively contributed ideas on topics such as activism within the association and how to involve new alumni in Bekader.

A special moment during the GMA was the change in the board. Jelle van Pijkeren stepped down as chair after a long period of dedicated service to Bekader. We would like to sincerely thank Jelle for his commitment, energy, and involvement, and for everything he has meant to the association.

The evening concluded with a convivial networking drink, where discussions about both the keynote and the GMA continued. It was a successful and inspiring gathering that we look back on with great pleasure.
